Summer 2 in Year 3
Welcome to the last half term of the academic year. It’s always a busy and enjoyable time of the year with plenty of things happening.
Here’s some useful information:
Reminder: We are going on our trip to Chester on the first day back (Monday 4th June). Children need to be in school uniform and bring a packed lunch in a plastic bag with their name on please. A hat may be advisable as the warm weather looks set to continue.
P.E. will continue to be on Thursday afternoons.
- Sports day for Year 3 will be on Tuesday 26th June in the afternoon.
Reading – please continue to encourage your child to read for pleasure as part of our ‘Remarkable Reader’ reward scheme. We have a number of children who have achieved their Bronze Award already. Keep up the good work!
Spellings – we will have a test each Monday afternoon and new spellings will be sent home later that day.
Times Tables – children will be tested regularly on their individual times table target. Please encourage your child to practice their tables.
This half term we will continue with our ‘Power Of Reading’ work on ‘The Tin Forest’ by Helen Ward and Wayne Anderson.
All of our English work will be based around themes related to this book.
Reading, Grammar and Handwriting will also be taught on a regular basis.
Our topics for this half term in Mathematics are:
Geometry – Properties of shapes.
Measurement – Mass and Capacity.
Learning across the curriculum:
Our topic for this half term is called ‘How does your garden grow’. This topic focusses on how plants grow and the ways that plants are important to us.
If you have any questions or worries about our work or class routines, please don’t be afraid to ask.
